We have an arrangement with Honc Marine, the top seawall contractor in SW Florida to inspect all of our seawalls. They have been building seawalls since 1955 with over 12,000 satisfied customers.
When inspecting seawalls, Honc Marine will probe the ground to see how deep the seawall panels extend below the surface of the canal. Knowing the depth allows Honc Marine to advise whether the panels are securely embedded into the ground, or not. Seams between panels will be examined, as well as the surface of the panels, and the seawall cap.
On panels that are deemed to be unacceptable, Honc Marine will provide a written estimate to repair the seawall and/or cap. This way you will know exactly what you are getting into and can deal with the seller accordingly.
When repairing an existing seawall there are usually a variety of options with a variety of prices. A seller will obviously choose the cheapest option. You as a buyer want the seawall to last a long time and would choose a different option than the seller. By having all of the options in front of you, you can negotiate with the seller from a stronger position.
